Return from hiatus - A letter to the reader
Hello my dear reader,
Thank you for your patience with my hiatus from this site. While I haven’t posted anything in some months, I have still pondered, wrote, and saved reflections during bursts of energy. Reflections that I plan to share here on Little Brown Dot.
When I initially formed Little Brown Dot, it was a step of courage. I had always loved writing and found ways to create throughout my life. However, I felt too scared to share my reflections with the outside world, especially as someone who has worked hard to guard the vulnerable parts of my being. But, like in a gust of wind, I was swept up by an idea of a gift for my 30th birthday: to set myself free. So, my first post here was on my birthday, June 26th, 2021.
Since my first post, I felt a rush of energy in posting my work online. While I’ve spent the last several months tending to other things, I am now back and wish to honor the gift of freedom that I offered myself last year.
That’s why I am going to post everyday this month, starting today, up till my birthday.
Some will look similar to poetry I’ve posted so far, while others may be longer in length - capturing moments of reflection I often find myself in. I also offer prose that speaks to different topics, some leaning more into the trauma I experienced as a child that continues to re-emerge and offer lessons in my adulthood. I figure to be set free, I must bear and hold my vulnerability. I hope that in my doing so, you may also feel inspired to tap into yours.
Thank you again for being here. Truly wishing you love, hope, and connection.
Warmly,
LBD
